We assume Jacob been ill because he specifically mentions paying his doctor bills.
In May 9, 1869, Jacob wrote a codicil adding his son William Shackford and his son-in-law Charles B Paine as along with the existing executors John S Pearce and Randall B Clark. Jacob died June 19, 1869 at the age of 79.
Jacob Shackford's Will
Know all men by these presents that I Jacob
Shackford of Eastport, nie County and State of
Maine, being of sound disposing mind and memory,
do make and publish this my last will and testament, 1st. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elisa D.
Shackford. My homestead, where I now live, situated on the
corner of Water and Ney Streets during her lifetime and at her
decease to be equally divided between my daughter Eliza
A. Shackford and my son William Shackford.
2nd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Eliza D.
Shackford, after paying my doctor bills and personal expens
ses and all my just debts, all the money, government
bonds, telegraph and bank stocks, notes and mortgages,
and all evidences of money, during her life time and at her
decease, to my said daughter Eliza Shackford.
3rd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Eliza
D. Shackford, all the rest and residue of my real-estate,
not included in my said Homestaed, together, with any
and all estate, right or interest in lands which I may
acquire after the date of this will, during her life
time and at her decease to be equally divided between
my children, viz, Eliza A. Shackford, Matilda, wife
of Charles B. Paine and William Shackford, also my son
Henry Nevis Shackford, if known to be living at the
death of my said wife.
4th. I give and devise to my said wife Eliza D. Shackford
all my household furniture and un???? apparel
and at her deceased, to my said daughter Eliza A. Shack-
ford, and to my son William Shackford, to be equally
divided between them.
5th. I ordain and appoint John S. Pease, and Ran-
dall B. Black, both of said Eastport, as executors of this
my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto let my hand and seal
and publish and declare this to my last will and tes
tament in the presence of the witnesses named below.
This second day of September in the year of your Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty eight.

said real estate shall be bargained, sold and conveyed, as they
my said heirs may determine.
