His first codicil dated May 14, 1873 mentioned his daughter Joanne Augusta Stacey who had just purchased a home at No 10 Woodland Terrace in Philadelphia.
His second codicil dated August 20, 1873 mentioned the death of his son John E Shackford, John's wife Fannie, and two daughters (unnamed). William revised his will to give Fannie $3000.
His third codicil dated November 2, 1875 mentions James M Shackford, forgiving any balance of account given to James. We believe James is his grandson, a son of John E Shackford and his first wife Mary Astern Harris.
Will William M Shackford
I William M Shackford of Portsmouth in the County of Rock
ingham and State of New Hampshire do make publish and declare
my last will and testament in manner and form following that is
to say I give and bequeath unto Miss Almira C Moore the net
income of twenty five shares in the First National Bank in Ports-
mouth or its equivalent to her own use for and during her
natural life.
I give and bequeath one thousand dolalrs unto each of my
grandchildren living and of ago at the time of my decease.
I give and bequeath unto my son Charles C Shackford one
thousand dollars for each of my grandchildren living and not of
age at the time of my decease to have and to hold the same to him
in trust to apply the same as and when he shall judge right and
proper to their use and benefit as he in his good judgement shall
deem to be the best disposition of this bequest.
I give an bequest unto my daughter in law Mrs Maria P
Robinson one thousand dollars to have and to hold the same to
her and her heirs and assigns forever.
I give and beqeath to John E Shackford, Moses P Stacy
Charles C Shackford and Maria P Shackford any balance of
account standing on my books against each of them respectively
at the time of my decease.
All the rest residue and remainder of my estate I give
devise and bequeath as follwos that is to say. On third part
thereof to my son Charles C Shackford to have and to hold to
him and his heirs and assigns forever.
One third part thereof to my son John E Shackford to have and to
hold to him and his heirs and assigns forever. One third part thereof
to my daughter Joanne Augusta Stacy the wife of Moses T Stacy to
have and to hold to her and her heirs and assigns forever to her
sole use separate from any control of her husband.
Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son
Charles C Shackford to be sole Executor of this my last will
and testament and I request that no bonds be required of him
as Trustee under or Executor of this will.

I William M Shackford of Portsmouth in the County of Rockingham
and State of New Hampshire testator in the foregoing last will
and testament executed at Portsmouth aforesaid on the second day
of November A D 1871 do hereby make the following alteration in said
will to wit. I devise and bequeath to my daughter Joanne
Augusta Stacey that portion of my estate secured by an assignment
to me of a bond and mortgage on her dwelling house and lot of
land known and designated as No 10 Woodland Terrace situated
in West Philadelphia State of Pennsylvania to secure the payment
of twenty five hundred dollars this sum therefore is to be deducted
from the net amount of the estate of which I may die possessed
before the dividsion to the residuary legates as devised and
bequeathed by my last will and testament as aforesaid and I
do hereby ratify and confirm said last will and testament
in all respects except as herein and hereby altered.
In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal

Having heretofore made my last will and testament dated
November 2 1871 and since then having made a codicil dated May 14
1873 and the decease of my son John Edward Shackford having
made a further alteration proper. I William M Shackford do
now make this as a further codicil and direct that it be added
to said will and be taken and be deemed to be a part thereof.
That is to say. I rescind the bequest that I made in and
by my said last will to my said son John E Shackford an din
lieu thereof I now give and bequeath unto Fannie Shackford his
widow three thousand dollars to have and to hold to her and
her heirs and assigns in trust for the use and benefit of herself
and her two daughters children of my said son John to them
and their heirs and assigns forever.
All the rest residue and remainder of my estate I give devise
and bequeath as follows that is to say one half thereof to my
son Charles C Shackford to have and to hold to him and
to his heirs and assigns forever. One half thereof to my daughter
Joanna Augusta Stacey the wife of Moses P Stacey to have and
to hold to her and to her heirs and assigns forever to her sole
use separate from and control of her husband. And I do hereby
ratify and confirm said last will and testament aforesaid
in all respects except as herein and hereby altered.
