DEATHS AND FUNERALS
The death of Mrs. Donna Evans Shackford, wife of Joseph E. Shackford of No. 210 West Beard avenue, occurred yesterday morning after an illness of three years. She was 43 years old and was born at Owego. Mrs. Shackford was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Evans and spent her younger life in Chicago where she married Mr. Shackford twenty years ago. They had since resided in Syracuse. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter Miss Donna May Shackford; by two sons, Arthur E. and Thomas L. Shackford; by her father; by a brother Arthur E. Evans of Chicago, and by two sisters, Mrs. Stella Towne of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. W. K. Patrick of Swift. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon at the house, with burial at Morningside Cemetery.
Donna's death certificate states that she died of purpura hemorrhagica due to chronic obstruction of the common bile duck [sic, jsp]. It also lists her father as Thomas Evans, born in England and her mother as Jane Kilburn, born in N Y State.
Her three children were:
Arthur Evans (1889-1965) married Josephine Clara Essig
Thomas Leon Shackford (1892-1959) married 1) Ruth Hopkins 2) Virginia Rogers Edwards (my grandmother)
Donna May Shackford (1896-????) married William J. Brown
She also had two step children who were not mentioned in her obituary (from Joseph's first wife Elizabeth A Myers).
William Henry Shackford (1873-1958) married Anna Mooney
Joseph Edward Shackford (1876-1948) married May Rowe Chadwick
