It's not as clear who the John mentioned was as we have three John Shackfords living on this date:
John Shackford (1678-1738) - (William 1) - William's uncle, blockmaker in Portsmouth
John Shackford (1708-1766) - (William 1, John 2) - John's son, of Portsmouth, occupation unknown
John Shackford (1698-1886) (William 1, Samuel 2) - William's brother, cordwainer of Andover
We'll keep looking for references to Shackfords in these town minutes. It would be most interesting to know who typed them and if they also kept a copy of the original handwritten copies.
