All we know of Jacob is that he was born on May 29, 1825 to John and Elizabeth Shackford, that he died around August 12, 1826, that he was 14 months when he died, and that his death was mentioned in the Eastport Sentinel.
We know that Jacob's father, Captain John Shackford (1782-1866), was the captain of the Schooner Boundary at the time of his son's death but do not know if he was on his ship when his son died or at home. No matter where John was, the death of his youngest son must have been tragic for him and his whole family.
