Brilliant Ceremony Takes Place in
Palms, burning candles and quanti-
ties of white chrysanthemums decorat-
ed Monument Methodist Church last
evening at 7:30 o'clock for the marriage
of Miss Ethel Fraser Shackford, daugh-
ter of the late Dr. William Henry
Shackford and Mrs. Callie E. Shackford,
to Robert Lamb Saville, son of Mr. and
Mrs Charles Otway Saville. The church
was thronged with a large company of
relatives and friends to witness the
ceremony, which was performed by the
Rev. John W. Shackford, a cousin of
the bride. Mrs. Allen J. Saville rend-
ered the wedding music, including "The
Perfect Day" and the Barcarolle from
"Tales of Hoffman."
The bride's wedding dress was an
exquisite affair, fashioned of ivory
white satin and barrick macross lace,
and her veil of illusion fell to the hem
of her long train. She entered the
church with her brother, Samuel B.
Shackford, who gave her in marriage.
Her bouquet was a shower of white
roses and lillies of the valley. They
were met at the chancel by the groom
and his best man, W. Robertson Bev-
erly, of Richmond. Miss Sarah T.
Buckley, of Morristown, N. J., who was
maid of honor, wore a costume of pale
pink charmeuse with a tunic of cream-
colored shadow lasce. She carried a big
bouqet of pink chrysanthemums tied
with tulle streamers.
The bridesmaids wore gowns of Nile
green crepe de chine, made with tunics
and bodices of pink Italian net and
their flowers were white chrysanthe-
mums. The girls chosen by the bride
as her attendants included Misses
Keith Saville, sister of the groom: Ethel
Whittet, Leila Willis, Virginia Thorn-
ton, all of Richmond; Virginia Thorn-
ton, all of Richmond; Virginia Johnson,
of Sheparerstown, West Virginia, and
Alma Walker, of Walkerton. The
groomsmen were Messers. Francis Har-
rison Lee, J. Hoge Ricks, Dr. Beverly F.
Eckles, Frank S. Eckles, Dr. J. Morti-
mer Hughes, of Richmond, and Dr.
Theodore B. Shackford, of Lynchburg.
